receives " Small Business of the year award " for district 44. What makes this award special is that only one business in this district is chosen for 2005 as the recipient. 

The 44th Assembly District includes the cities of Pasadena, South Pasadena, Temple City, Duarte, and La Cañada Flintridge; the communities of Altadena and Mayflower Village; portions of Arcadia and Monrovia; and the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Eagle Rock, Glassell Park and Highland Park. The area is nestled up against the San Gabriel Mountains foothills, the Angeles Crest National Forest and the Arroyo Seco. The district is traversed by the 210, 2 and 110 Freeways.

Alan Yap of ETY Parts Imports, Inc. was presented an
award by Assemblymember Carol Lui’s Office of Assembly District #44, honoring him for his outstanding leadership in the community. California Small Business Day is hosted by California legislative leaders, and sponsored by 31 organizations and chambers. State Controller Steve Westly delivered the keynote address "A Salute to Small Business."

“ A Salute to Small Business”

Allen Yap & dad Keith Yap, recipients of “California Small Business Award”

June 15, 2005, a local business in Eagle Rock received a prestigious award from the State of California. About 370 people and over 60 State Legislators attended the awards luncheon at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento. There were a total of 80 Small Business recipients from California honored.

E.T. Y. Parts Inc., a European and Asian Foreign Auto Parts company located at 2144 Colorado Boulevard has been in Eagle Rock since 1980. The award they received was the “California Small Business Award.” What makes this significant is that only one business in the 44^th Assembly District receives this award. Carol Liu, the Assemblywoman that represents Eagle Rock has a large district, she also represents the communities of La Canada-Flintridge, Pasadena, South Pasadena, Arcadia, Temple City, Duarte, Monrovia, Glassell Park, Highland Park and Altadena.

This award is given to an outstanding small business that represents the 44^th District in a positive light. Keith Yap and Allen Yap, father & son, the owners of this family business, were given the award based on longevity of the business, use of technology to enhance their business, community activism and the ability to bring customers from other areas of Los Angeles to Eagle Rock to purchase their products.
